Potentially Dangerous Electrical Conditions

Flickering or Dimming Lights: Flickering lights can be a sign of a very serious electrical problem. Some type of defect or poor connection in the circuits usually causes continuously flickering lights. This generally causes “arcing” which produces sparks and heat that could catch a nearby object on fire. You should call ElectraMedics for emergency service to diagnose and repair the source.

Static on Phone Lines: Can be caused by improperly installed wiring. Although voltage over phone lines is typically low, if the wiring comes in contact with a power source it could provide a nasty shock, or damage your phone, computer or any other device that line is connected to. Always use a professional electrician to wire or re-wire new phone lines.

Sparking or Burning Smell at Outlet: Running too many devices on an outlet can cause it to produce smoke, funny smell or be warm to the touch. This is an indication of an overload, which is a dangerous condition if the heat produced by the circuit catches the wall or a nearby object on fire.

Overloaded Circuits: If you have overloaded circuits, you will need ElectraMedics to inspect your existing wiring and suggest a solution to handle all of your power needs. You may need new outlets placed in more convenient locations or special outlets to handle the needs of a particular appliance. Don’t overlook a potentially dangerous condition!

Code Violations: Codes are enforced for your safety. Even newer homes may have potentially unsafe conditions that can put your family in danger. ElectraMedics believes in protecting your home and family and will provide a complete 46-point electrical inspection to diagnose any problems you may have in your electrical system. Please see our coupon to save money on a complete electrical inspection.

Frayed or Damaged Wires: The hazardous condition of your wiring may not be noticeable unless you know how to look for signs of damage. Insects, rodents, heat, water damage and old age can deteriorate your wiring and cause a potentially unsafe condition. Call ElectraMedics to have your electrical system inspected yearly to protect your home and your family.
